El pasado fin de semana se celebró la edición número 74 de los premios de la Academia Británica de las Artes Cinematográficas y de la Televisión (BAFTA).

La ceremonia por primera vez fue divida en dos partes, realizándose el domingo en el Royal Albert Hall de Londres y sin la presencia de publico debido a la pandemia de COVID-19. Los nominados aparecieron por Zoom, y también contó con una alfombra roja limitada.

Este año no contó con la presencia de el príncipe William y su esposa Kate Middleton, como cada año desde el 2010, que fue cuando se hizo presidente de los BAFTA, debido a la reciente muerte de su abuelo, el duque de Edimburgo a los 99 años.

Esta edición de los premios fue catalogada como “diversa”, debido a que la gran mayoría de los nominados el año pasado fueron personas blancas, y este año 16 de los 24 actores y actrices nominados pertenecen a grupos étnicos minoritarios. Además, la lista de las producciones nominadas también fueron más diversa que nunca, así como los ganadores, considerando que Chloé Zhao se convirtió en la segunda mujer en ganar el premio a mejor dirección en 53 años en la historia de los BAFTA.
